pins through the plane

by Admin, Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 11:44 @ Mungo Park

Look forward to seeing the pics, Ron. If you like we can even put them up in the Planemaker's Gallery for you.

You've no doubt seen the information on making infill planes on the main site. I usually encourage people to make a smaller plane first, as a "practice run" for a larger plane (though this is when using the dovetailed method of construction). If you use a casting for the body then much of the process of making an infill plane is simplified. It also goes without saying that getting a machined casting requires less work than cleaning up a rough casting yourself -- though a rough casting is cheaper to buy.
