jack rabbet plane identification

by bgranderson, Tuesday, July 14, 2009, 11:50

I wondered if anyone could help me identify a "new" old plane I just acquired. It looks like a Stanley 10-1/2 "jack rabbet," but has no readily visible markings. The casting seems to be rather rough or course with what appears to be a seam running down the length of the body on the inside. The sole and sides look fine (once I cleaned them up--they were very rusty). The sole seems to be lapping out pretty well. The only markings I found were on the brass adjustment knob. It says "Bailey 1895" in very small letters. It also came with an old, worn, rusty Stanley blade. Any ideas?
