Mahogany for Plane?
Most of the mahogany you get nowadays is too soft and light, this is true. Not like the days of old when you could get the denser Cuban mahogany. It's nice and stable though so if you manage to get some heavier stuff though then it should be fine - especially with a sole of harder/heavier material.
